For the Love of Paws Animal Rescue

For the Love of Paws Animal Rescue is a foster-based non-profit animal rescue organization based in Windsor, Ottawa Ontario.

We were founded in December 2012 and since then, we’ve rescued dogs that have been abandoned, abused, and neglected. We work with other animal shelters as they call upon us to rescue dogs that do not stand a chance of survival in the shelter, providing medical care, including spay/neuter, and placing the dogs in suitable, safe, and permanent homes.

By working with a group of committed volunteers, foster homes and our own veterinarian, Dr. Ajay Kaler of Central Animal Hospital, we help to facilitate the placement of animals while providing them with loving, temporary care, and to find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.

For the Love of Paws relies completely on the generosity of the local community to provide donations, both financial and in-kind, and volunteers. We do not receive any government funding at this time.
Dogs that we rescue from the shelters are housed in volunteer foster homes until an appropriate home has been found.

For the Love of Paws is committed to every animal that we rescue. We do not euthanize animals because they have been with us too long or for medical reasons. If, for any reason, an adopter is no longer able to keep their adopted animal, we are committed to bringing it back into our adoption program.

There are so many abandoned and homeless dogs in need of a loving home. For the Love of Paws can only rescue them if we have foster homes to temporarily care for them until they are adopted. If you or someone you know are willing to open their home to a dog in need, please contact us. Applications can be completed here:
*ALL food and supplies are provided by us. A foster just needs to provide LOVE and a SAFE HOME!

For The Love of Paws is having an online auction in November.Looking for donations to help raise money for the dogs in our care and coming soon to the rescue.

Mantra is a beautiful 1 year old Labrador mix who came into our rescue September 19th from Beirut, Lebanon.
Mantra was found lying on the streets with a gunshot wound to the chest and was rescued from our friends at BETA and was rushed to an Animal Hospital for life saving surgery. After recovering from her surgery and hearing her story we asked if she could come to our rescue and BETA happily said yes.
Mantra went to her foster home shortly after arriving in Windsor, ON and quickly adjusted to her new family and her foster brother Leonard.
Everything was going great until her foster family noticed she had a discharge with a pink hue and quickly changed to a murky red. We took her in to our own Veterinarian and the decision was made to do exploratory surgery.
During surgery it was discovered that Mantra had Pyometra at a very advanced stage which was removed and then flushed with antibiotics.
We need help in covering her surgery and treatment which is $1000.00
This very sweet girl has had a very rough start in her life and now it’s her turn to have a happy life she so deserves.
Any donation is greatly appreciated.
